Now for the facts…I promise these are things that I have never shared on my blog 🙂
1. Claim to fame: I was an extra in the 2006 adaptation of Charlotte’s Web. I never met Dakota Fanning because I was too busy stuffing my face with fairy floss, popcorn and coke.

2. I have an impressive scar on my wrist from a tangle I had with a six-foot kangaroo. I recommend not trying to hold a kangaroo’s head down without at least a blanket.
3. I am scared of the dark, clowns, spiders, knives, death, breaking bones, the Earth exploding.
4. I quit gymnastics when I was seven because I hated the leotards going up my bum.
5. I have an unhealthy obsession with singing songs to my cat, but replacing all the lyrics or melodies with ‘meow’s. You should hear me do the Game of Thrones theme song.
6. I truly wish that the Little People existed and that I could dance with the fairies before they killed me.
7. I keep horrible books in my toilet so that when guests use it they seriously question my taste and humanity. Favourites include Mills and Boon romances – as long as they’re from the 1970s.

Great facts about yourself! What were you doing with the kangaroo?

Thanks 🙂 I’m a wildlife rescuer and the kangaroo had been hit by a car and had its legs smashed up. Seeing as we couldn’t get a shooter out we had to catch him and take him to a vet to be euthanized. So I was distracting the roo while two others were going to pin it. Turns out the woman who was going to throw the blanket over its head had never done it before, messed it up and the roo grabbed her. So I ran in and pushed it away from her and onto the ground. We were both pretty lucky, she only had a couple of scratches on her back. I got the scar when he grabbed my hand. Poor roo.

Whoa, that’s an amazing story! I can’t imagine how hard your job must be. I’m a miner & when I was working in central qld… It was just awful seeing all those dead roos on the sides of the road. Had a few close calls myself but was sensible & lucky enough to never hit one. Where do you work?

That’s actually volunteer work 🙂 I used to be a carer as well (volunteer) so while it was sad to see joeys come in after their mum had been hit by a car, it was also great to know that they had been saved from starvation and would be able to grow up.
Definitely more common in rural areas, especially where the council doesn’t pick up the dead ones. It can be quite depressing at times.
I studied environmental science and ultimately want to work in the industry. Interesting that you’re a miner. I’ve actually been looking at jobs in the restoration side of mining. What do you do at the mines?

I’m a geologist, but I’m keen to get out. I was tossing up with whether I could last another year, but now my mind is set – I’m going to start a postgrad in education next year so I can become a middle school science teacher.
The workplaces vary a lot out there. If you can surround yourself with good people it makes all the difference. There’s definitely a lot of rehab that needs doing, but mining companies really aren’t keen to spend money on something that doesn’t make them money. Of course, they have to – it’s in legislation now.
Uh, don’t mind me. Being in the industry will either get in your blood or it won’t – you won’t know unless you try.
I really don’t know of any job going for enviros now, but if I hear anything I’ll let you know.

Yeah, I’ve heard it can be a difficult place to work. Not a bad idea, at least teaching is steady. It looks as though they hire outside companies to do the rehab so I’m trying to find one, but there isn’t much going at the moment.

It took me a minute to remember that Australians use “toilet” as a direct synonym “bathroom.” When I read it at first, I was like “IN the toilet? Won’t they get wet?” 😛

Hi Kate! Congrats on the nomination! Very interesting facts about yourself. I’m so new to blogging I am caught by surprise to be included here! Thanks for that.
About me? I don’t use spellcheck! Instead I make changes as I write. I know you’re not supposed to do that; but I edit so fast that it doesn’t hurt the flow of creativity. But I do pay attention to the times a word or phrase gets underlined in red.
I, too, am afraid of death. A new life? A black void? God? I don’t know. I fear of being stuck in a black void with no people. But I don’t spend a significant amount of time worrying about such things. Instead, I am more curious about the possibilities of what might come out of the good in my life.
I love people! They are so energizing and are a great source of inspiration for me. I am a firm believer in giving people a chance. I don’t like the idea that our society believes people are “disposable”. Fire someone? Divorce? Drop friendships? I recognize that relationships can get sticky and proceed accordingly.

I also don’t use spellcheck! The red squiggly line drives me nuts so I do the same thing. It doesn’t take me out of the zone at all. I only ever get scared at night when I’m thinking too much. Then I get motivated to do something about it but it’s too late to get up and enjoy life lol.
I’m a bit different with the people thing. I much prefer to hang out with my animal friends and people as a whole generally start to drain my energy after a while. But I also don’t like the idea of ‘disposable’ people.

Thanks for the nomination! I just posted it. I’m still trying together up more blogger on this one as well as the last one. It’s sitting in the private section of my blog waiting to be posted. Also, I don’t know many people who come across roos like that. Hope things are well. I’m finally back into blogging again lol
